With the credit crunch hitting us hard, it seems difficult to understand how many millions of pounds have been invested in the cruise industry. With new ships still classified by the cruise lines, we can only expect bigger and better things for the future. Looking ahead to 2009, we can see a mixture of new vessels ready to be launched from smaller luxury ships, to huge super liners.



Here is your guide to the new cruise ships for 2009:



Ready to hit our shores in May 2009, sister ship of Costa Luminosa Costa Serena is currently under construction at Fincantieri's Marghera shipyard, Mantimo. The vessel 13 of the Costa fleet has a gross tonnage of 92,600. There are 1130 cabins on board, 56 of them have direct access to ships innovative and exclusive Samsara Spa, 718 have a private balcony, 44 suites have private balconies, and 4 suites have direct access to the spa samsara. The ship can accommodate 2,260 more passengers, and with the theme of light and elegance, we can supply the latest addition to the Costa family will be a real gem.



The ship has 4 restaurants, 11 bars, 2 pools, 4 Jacuzzis, the Samsara Spa, and for the more adventurous, the ship even has a simulator Grand Prix.
Costa Luminosa will set sail from Venice on her maiden voyage on May 5, 2009.
