I have just started Grade 10 this year, but I decided if I want to get into a good university I should start planning now. I'd kill to go to school in the Ivy League ... But since I'm Canadian, I do not really know what to do to make this possible! I'm also looking to become an architect!

It is difficult to give you an answer in black and white, whereas there is no real formula for entering a school. Of course, I can tell you the basics: you need a good GPA, good (good) grades, extracurricular activities, and essentially you really need to be your own person. In addition, the recommendations of SAT / ACT and teachers are incredibly influential.

Of course, Ivy League institutions are known to accept students based on money and whether or not you're a student legacy (which means your close relatives attended the school), but many other schools do well, and it is not always a guarantee.

The people I know who attended Harvard, Yale, Princeton, etc. are all people who are motivated by what they do, nobody, and people all looking to expand their horizons. This is not something you can really know or necessarily false, but it is something that is usually inherent. However, it is an unfair generalization to make, in some cases. There are people who are not the most motivated, the individual or more or more "seeks to expand-my-mind" types that are accepted into Ivy Leagues.

Really, the motivation of these schools to accept students who: 1) correspond to the type of students they want (personality wise and academic), and 2) students who speak so clearly distinguishable as a person who is just looking for something, whether spiritual, academic, personal, etc.

Start studying for the SAT, because to get into U.S. schools, unless you have boatloads of money, you have to follow U.S. regulations.
