There are a lot of exciting things to see and do in Niagara Falls. Beyond Niagara Falls themselves, there are several other aspects of Niagara that draws millions each year. There is obviously the charm of the old Niagara on the Lake, the quiet vineyards, exciting family attractions, shows and upscale accommodations. But many also choose to explore this region for its paranormal and ghostly encounters many have come to experience. With Niagara with the fierce war of 1812, battlefields, and the old buildings are still haunted to this day with spirits from beyond the grave.

However, while many people generally avoid these types of housing in Niagara Falls, there are those who are even willing to pay a high price to stay in these rooms awful. The pleasure of experiencing something that is beyond life is a fascinating feeling for some, and make their journey in Niagara Falls that they would certainly never forget. Now, having said that, generally speaking guests do not tend to experience something, but just stories and folklore alone is enough to put your senses on hyper drive.

In Thorold, Ontario, about 10 minutes west of Niagara Falls is the former Keefer Mansion. This building was created in 1886, and was built on the same ground as the American Hospital through the War of 1812. After being used as a home for family and Keefer brilliant engineer, he was used as a psychiatric hospital, a bar, apartments, nursing homes and Maplehurst. Now it has been completely renovated to house one of the tastiest restaurants and the Niagara Bed & Breakfast. However, the spirits seem to always responsible for hearing footsteps inside a room on the floor, and banging on the stairwell. Squeaky noises of doors opening, long pipe smoke in the basement where the figures have been spotted, and the taps get turned on and off and have some of the strange incidents that took place here.

After the war of 1812, the town of Niagara on the Lake was burned to the ground as the Americans withdrew from the city. A British officer named "Captain Swayze" was murdered by two American soldiers in the basement of what is now known as "The Angel Inn". Customers say there is a "cold spot" at the entrance to the bathroom, which is commonly known as paranormal. They indicate that to date the British officer appears to have distaste for the Americans to the point where it is known to disrupt the drums of "Ameribeer" where the innkeepers try to serve.

There are several areas known for their ghostly encounters and many even offer seasonal haunted tours for guests to experience. Fort George, Niagara on the Lake, and Fort Niagara River in the United States are both known for their meetings goosebumps many soldiers who died in 1812. In Niagara Falls, you will also find the famous Drummond Hill Cemetery where soldiers dying were seen wandering in the fields. A stay at the Econo-Lodge (west of the grave) will leave you with a short walk to the cemetery to the experiment after sunset.
