Where can I find information on ski resorts near New York? I want a ski that is good for:
1 - within 3 or 4 hours from NYC
2 - easy for beginners with ski experience little or no
3 - Child care and child-friendly
Is there a site that compares prices and New York ski domain?
Do not go to Hunter. They have accidents that cause loss of life because it is overcrowded.
I go to Bromley, which is about 4 1 / 2 hour drive from New York. It is near Manchester, Vermont. This is the top ski resort for FAMILIES * *-- that means you will not have to worry about reckless skiers / snowboarders cut you off. Because it is a mountain facing south, you have sunlight all day (when there are few clouds, anyway).
He daycare for toddlers, and ski programs for small children. The emphasis for children learning to ski is fun. Do not push your children to ride on the chairlift if they are not ready. Just a drop and they will be traumatized beyond reason.
I just returned from there yesterday. Our 8 year old and although she fell during class, she had fun. Be sure to get a helmet. I'm sure their head the way they are. If your child is not progressing as fast as the rest of the class (like our child), do not worry. Some instructors stay and continue to coach. It's all about having fun.
If you're looking to ski as a beginner, I recommend the years Beginner Circle for adults. It's worth every penny. I went skiing at Bromley inexperienced three years ago, took a class and had a blast.
And if I'm not quite sold you on Bromley Mountain. . . Manchester outlet shopping!
I'm not sure any website which compares New York area ski resorts, but I know of an area near New York that many indigenous NY'ers go for skiing / snowboarding. The area is called the Poconos which is actually a mountain in Pennsylvania. It is not too far from New York and the area is filled with several ski resorts. I think the Catskill Mountains has resorts as well, but I'm not too sure.
here is a link very http://www.skiresortguide.com/usamap.cfm ... on the state of New York and all ski resorts in the state come ... Your best choices are either ir Hunter Mountain in southern Vermont Driving
The ski areas closest to New York are not necessarily in the State of New York.
Would research NY, NJ, CT, PA, VT facilities managed by the State and the ski resorts.
Each state has areas within the range of 4 hours.
Cordially
Try going to citysearch.com they have reviews and a lot of information.
