Motorcycle Tank Bags

Motorcycle Tank BagsBackpack Tank Bag / for motorcycle?

Hello,
I was wondering if you guys and girls can answer this question for me. I start classes next month and I was wondering if a regular backpack is great for a sport bike (Honda Cbr F4I). I thought the one with the strap that goes around the waist, or do you think I should get a tank bag. I'll have to take at least 2 or 3 pounds and 1 or 2 text books. Prefer not to have a giant thing on my tank and my way. i also plan to carry out around my helmet / locking it to the bike and I do not wear special pants / boots (I know this is not the safest but I do not travel far), so no need a special place for them. Thank you

I carry a backpack all the time. I commuted to school and for 2 years with no problem .... even had an accident wearing one, and probably helped cushion my fall, because he had a blow up air bladder inside for comfort. I always use when I need to make things. tank bags arent made to transport the bike.

Better not wear a pack if you can help. If you do, think small and tight.
A tank bag is one of my favorite inventions, but they too are limited for space and weight and set your COG higher.
Best to invest in some panniers or side mount saddlebags with trundle bags inside.

A backpack tote 20 pounds for 2400 miles and a tank bag look pretty good.

I have a milk crate bungied to my sissy bar. Handles everything but the ice.

I know guy modified a bicycle carry rack, to fit on the grab handle on the back of his Honda CBR,

took place with a couple of screws (so he can remove / in about 5 min)

would take over and occupy about one third of the back seat but then he could not pick up a passenger at the same time.

sure you could change something to fit so you can attach the bag on the back ... even just a bar on each side that grips the handrail .. would keep the backpack on the bike and could be deleted in 5 mins ..

Answer depends on how your trip. For 10 miles, a backpack is fine - especially motorcycle-specific (try back Krieg) that distribute the weight better on the back and shoulders.
To say more than 30 minutes on the bike, a tank bag or tailpack is a good option. I Alpinestars Aero Tank Bag Tech, which is expandable, holds a lot, and magnetically attaches securely, and turns into a backpack in seconds. Not cheap but good quality. Unless you take your knee or back moto-x bike, most tank bags is not your way.

As you say you do not travel far, I'd suggest the backpack, and Krieg if you can afford.
