Pompey Pillar near Billings - The only physical evidence of the expedition Lewis & Clark - Clark carved a lot of info on a rock
The Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman - Museum dino great. The lead paleontologist is actually the guy Michael Crichton based his main character in Jurassic Park on
A Carousel for Missoula - a very cheap real carousel with the old pipe organ, it also includes a playground MASS
Fairmont Hot Springs - swimming, water slides, great family place
Yellowstone National Park - speaks for itself
Tons of stuff outdoors - camping, fishing, etc.

Yellowstone is always good, it's more in Wyoming that if Montana. Glacier National Park is also amazing, but it is in the northern part of the state.
If you want something fun for kids, try to take mines Sapphire Gem Mountain, near Anaconda. They'll sell you a bucket of soil from the mine, and show you how to sift through it - you can keep what you find. It is something like 10 million a bucket. They will even evaluate what you find for yourself. It'sa lot of fun, and each bucket has lots of tiny sapphires in it - all colors.
