Meribel Tourist OfficeChatel - a rising star in the Alps

Ask your average skier if they know or have visited Chatel, and they may well stare at you. However, if you do a little digging in the ski world, you can suddenly start to discover lots of people who have visited Chatel chalet or apartment there.

This is the contradictory nature of Chatel - it is the Alps best kept secret that many people know.

Chatel is a small seaside farming village-turned-ski nestled in the heart of the Portes du Soleil - the largest linked ski area. Its development has been done with a sympathetic look on his heritage. No high rise concrete buildings or hotels, mountain chalets simply magnificent. Historically, Chatel has always been somewhat overshadowed by its neighbor noisy and turbulent, Morzine. However, all that is changing.

People began to realize that Chatel some of the best skiing in the ski area. It is right at the heart of the Portes du Soleil circuit and enjoys easy access to Avoriaz - a purpose built high altitude resort. This is consistent with recent investments in recent years. Every winter sees one or two new lifts, and over the next two years, the two ski areas of Super Chatel and Linga will be joined by tracks / elevator.

In recent years, avid skiers were attracted to Chatel due to a mix of beauty, skiing, prices of goods at low prices and the fact that the station is a little less predictable than some of the most talked about British ski destinations (Mozina, Val d'Isere, etc.). Those who know have been aware of the record of the station and snowboarding. Being in the French Alps, the Portes du Soleil never seems to be no snow, even if some of the highest, the most popular resorts are suffering. Indeed, Avoriaz receives snowfall highest average (over 9 m) across the Alps!

Chatel is now well and truly on the map, property investors have started looking at the station for development, and a number of beautiful and large, luxurious cottages and apartments have been built or are being planned.

Before the game, White-Peak Holidays has been offering high quality, luxury self-catering ski chalets in Chatel for many years.

White-Peak Sales property also has a number of luxury expected, large ski chalets should be completed in 2008.

Then, the winds of change are blowing Chatel. Pushed by companies such as White-Peak and Inside Edge, the village is rapidly making a reputation for quality and luxury. Meanwhile, prices of holidays and the sale of the property prices are not inflated like other more popular resorts. Another important fact is that the village is very French and not lose sight of its history and tradition. There is no danger of the village turns into another station of "Little Britain" type, because the flood of British property investors will always be drawn to the Meribel, Verbier and Val d'Isere, leaving those who Chatel want to mix culture with French luxury goods and stunning ski slopes.
