Which of the French ski resorts is the best? I live in a ski resort for 5 months and I havent been to one of the stations so I do not know what would be best:
Les Menuires
Valloire
Alpe d'Huez
La Plagne
Serre Chevalier
Tignes
I want somewhere that I wont miss the nightlife is good, lots of snow and friendly people. Almost anyone would like. Thank you for any help:)
No stations on your list are bad by any means. I'll give you a brief overview of each, I skied.
Les Menuires: Ugly purpose concrete, built just below Val Thorens and part of the 3 valleys excellent, its quieter than Val Thorens, but there's a good atmosphere seasonaire. The 3 Valleys has a huge amount of skiing, it is unlikely for advice, If you have previously skied only on holidays when there are probably your best choice to get the mileage to get good without getting bored of the same tracks again and again. drawback is the most skiing in the valley is above the tree line and Val Thorens is very prone to total whiteout.
Tignes: drinks linked to Val d'Isere ski very very very good, are expensive especially in the Val Claret.
La Plagne Les Arcs linked through huge double-decker is a lot of skiing, its been a while since ive been so I'ma little fuzzy on the nightlife, ski well if I remember.
Serre Chevalier: good skiing, great nightlife and a real small town atmosphere, you have to know people in shops and local bars, they usually give a discount to the local population as well. not quite as snow sure as other stations that if you have snow, it will be the best resort here, if not then its worst.
Alpe d'Huez: the no.1 in my opinion, a vibrant nightlife, a little ski very well (including a black trail 16 km) and some impressive off-piste, it's also very close to Les Deux Alpes through Valley and your close enough for a day trip to La Grave, which has some of the best off-piste in the world.
I'm not really familiar with the French ski stations, so I always look for the organizers of the ski holiday travel questions.
