Having the right travel luggage streamlines Classic black, leopard print, floral or striped luggage is available in a wide range of colors and patterns, but the styles, too, and not all created equal. When planning a trip, make sure to include your bags in your plans. How to decide what luggage to use or buy? It depends mostly on your mode of travel and the duration of your trip.
Travelling by bus usually means that you or the bus driver loads your luggage in storage compartments in the belly of the vehicle. There are also general bins for small items. Because you are present, probably load your own luggage, the strength of it is not too important, beware, though, because if the other elements being stored in the baggage are large and heavy (some bus passengers are dual-use and transportation plans), they could fall on your luggage and damage fragile items inside.
Anything that can be easily damaged should always be taken on board a bus, train, plane or boat in your hand luggage. There are exceptions (such as wine, which, because of being in a glass container are not allowed to board airplanes and must go in checked baggage) and those that must be packed very carefully, preferably in the bubble wrap and an outer waterproof layer, sealed tightly, and the safest are housed in a heavy sweater or jacket in the middle of your suitcase.
Luggage for travel train is the best to be light, because the chances are that you'll have to climb onto the train yourself. Most cars of the train overhead lockers at the end of the car where you enter, your luggage, therefore, must be stocked with dozens of others, if a plain black bag could easily be confused. It's a good plan, then, to buy distinctively colored or patterned luggage when you travel by train, thus avoiding the possibility of someone entering your bag, thinking it is theirs, when to get off one stop before yours, and when you know it is too late.
The appropriate background for ship travel, most cruise should take into account the length of time you'll be on board (if there is no laundry), the climate in which you will cruise, and especially the size of your cabin. Many cabins are tiny and a huge bag will be hard to store so it is out of your way.
Luggage for use in air travel is and has always been a challenge. With conveyor belts and baggage handlers involved, date of arrival of baggage passes through many hands and sometimes very distances before it reaches the aircraft hold. If you go on a long journey, you have no choice but to pack a large suitcase and save them, but a lot of time and problems can be avoided if you are able to organize what you need in a small suitcase (the airlines after their transfer on luggage dimensions and weight limits in line) and a briefcase or bag.
