What you want in a "bug" kit? Imagine this: You are a civilian (I spent time in the army 18 years ago, I am now civilian) and want a "bug" disaster kit, perhaps a nuclear attack? What would you and how you wear it?
My plan is to gather a wealth of lawn and garden utility cart, like those sold at Lowe's / Home Depot. It's like a more robust version of the great Red Wagons we like children.
Inside the car I want a duffel bag with clothes, a small bag with toiletries (soap, toothpaste, TP,
washing clothes, etc..) I want a coil of rope, tools and 2 bolt cutters and a hammer frame.
I want a canteen, and a skillet and a Dutch oven (two cast iron, of course). I want rubber boots, a raincoat and a plastic tarp blue. Military bed, blankets, sheets and pillow.
Food: A little can of stew, beans, bottled water.
I intend to have 2 weapons. I'm leaning towards a 12 gauge. Remington Riot / shotgun font type with a folding stock, as it can be hidden under a blanket in the basket and he gives a lot of versatility for purely defensive and 12 gauge. shotgun shells are common. Also, I intend to buy a
Glock 26 pistol in 9mm. It will hide in my pocket because it is a sub-compact 9mm is common
ammunition. Also a knife ka-bar, belt, and a Swiss Army knife or a tool of man in leather multi.
My second choice in addition to the Bushmaster rifle is a semi-auto that "M4 Style rifle.
Either. I intend to have a zippo, flint additional and liquid to start the fire?
So a suggestion? Shotgun vs. AR15?? I am currently preparing a nuclear war. :)
I expect to have to walk and shoot the cat because EMP causes car not to run. Thank you.
Usually this is a Bug Out Bag or BOB ... do a google search on it .... this idea whole wagon is too big. Imagine all the survivors to carry on a road ... "You will be leaving the truck and carrying a BOB incomplete. You `re better off using a pack frame or a MOLLE / ALICE pack to fit everything in you want to be as mobile as possible. A wagon to affect you.
Losing the following (they are either unnecessary or too heavy / bulky):
cast iron pot and frying pan-or even titanium aluminum cooking set is smaller and much lighter and equally effective
Cot-use a sleeping bag and a sleeping bag, cot is not necessary
Pillow-use your clothes in a bag as a pillow, regularly takes too much space. you `re trying to survive not on vacation
Canned-Go with dehydrated meals lighter weight and not need a can opener. MRE `s even better if the canned products.
The (both arms closely.) Rifle or pistol go with one or the other, then with a shotgun.
You do not need a K-bar knife and a Swiss multitool. Take the multitool and K-bar
The Zippo
Learn to use the magnesium fire starter with flint striker, his evidence failed, while the zippo may fail / break. It was also more compact than any fuel and flint "you'll need for a zippo.
If your car is off when the gun goes off nuclear EMP usually affect electronic devices when they are off, its only when they are on.
You `ll died five days after the fall if you do not take iodine pills they prevent radiation posioning benefits.
I `d also bring something to treat the water, outside the boil, like a backpack small filter.
Focus on water, shelter, food and protection.
Although I am not personally subscribe to your paranoia ..... Why clutter with a huge kit ..... Do a "Get Away" bag (which they are called in the Green Berets) who will support you for three days ..... then explore the possibility of using caches .....
Select wilderness areas and some supplies cache where you can retrieve them easily to some.
