move to Oz for the year next month i plan on working and living in Sydney for two months I did not address that perment is expected to have a "PLANFREE" haha year we hope to rent while in hostels, but you will be our Sydney home for the first, I suppose ... 2wks then how a bank let me open an account without an address wiv?? also which bank would you recommend?

Easy just give your home and you will probably have to put a minimum of $ 2000 (i did).

You'll probably have a problem opening an account in Australia. If your passport is good for ID, you'll still need to request an Australian tax file number when you get here, and your lack of a fixed address will probably cause problems. One of the requirements for opening an account will be proof that you live here. It can mean a bill payment with an address in Australia on this matter. If you can work around this time one of the largest banks will do. You would be better to work with a bank with national coverage as Westpac, BankWest and NAB (National Australia Bank). I do not recommend the Commonwealth Bank that their customer service leaves much to be desired (from personal experience).

Another option you might consider - try to open an offshore account with an International Bank which allows you to run around and still keep your home in Ireland. HSBC, for example, offshore accounts that let you access it from anywhere in the world. You can use Internet banking / phone and most of the Auto Teller Machines worldwide. You can have it set up for the Australian currency or in euros if you wish. There is a minimum opening balance, but it may worth your while to research. notes HSBC has branches throughout Australia as well.

There are special arrangements for new arrivals.

If you are new, you can open an Australian bank account by presenting your passport as ID, but you may be asked for additional identification if you try to open an account, after spending more than six weeks in the country. If you open the account in the first few weeks, having no problem is not fixed address, but it probably will if you wait too long.
