MarketplaceIceland HostelsPosted on November 21, 2010. Day Tours in Iceland, Viking Style First, if you're planning a trip to Europe, and have not thought of visiting Iceland, you should definitely consider. Yes, there are many destinations, Europe and the world beyond are full of them. Many people want to visit Rome or London or Paris, all the great places, no question. But what you may or may not realize is that these places are so crowded during peak season, it's crazy. You must wait in lines, waiting in traffic - get ready for a lot of waiting. I'm not saying these places are worth the wait.
Iceland is a relative newcomer on the world stage and Travel, by comparison, is much less crowded, but no less beautiful. In fact, many Europeans, especially the French, Germans and Britons see the kind of Iceland as a European national park of all kinds. If the wilderness and spectacular scenery is your bag, look to Iceland.
But I digress. Many people, when visiting a new country or place, opting for a bus trip to see the highlights. They are an affordable and effective way to see the sites. You can see what all the other tourists have seen when you meet someone at a party and tell them that you visited a new country, you can say, "Ya, I saw the (insert monument monument here). "
But Iceland is a natural paradise and one of the best ways to truly experience it is to think outside the box. Buses can not do it. So I propose a jeep tour adventure. They can carry you in the same level of comfort that the coaches can not reach. I talk about traffic flow, driving on glaciers, sandy beaches, or take you up close and personal with a volcano. So does Iceland. Clear weather in Iceland, you can see as far as possible in the eyes of brilliant colors. You will see an amazing diversity of flora and fauna. You go to the discovery of nature as it should be: clean and intact. You can even drink water from a creek, something I unfortunately do not recommend almost anywhere else in the world.
Convinced? Here's what you need to know about Iceland and more all the stuff enough. Iceland is expensive and not for the faint of heart. Get ready for it. Food, fuel, accommodation and alcohol are among the most expensive in Europe. My advice is to stay in a hostel, do your own taste and buy your liquor in state-run stores called, "VinBud" (pronounced Veen-stand) which translates literally. "Wine Store" Iceland's climate is notoriously fickle. It might rain one minute, sunny the next and the next snowfall on. And, it is rarely hot. In a good summer day the temperature could reach 70 degrees Fahrenheit, but it is more likely to be in the 50s. Be prepared. While other, it's all good.
Bus tours are great, especially if you're in a city like Rome, or any other metropolitan area. But Iceland is different and really see and feel what it has to offer is my opinion that you need to pass the bus tour and head off road in a super jeep. You took a vacation to get away from everything, so get it right, do it like a Viking.
