Holden BeachHolden Beach?

We're going to Holden Beach for the week. Renting a house $ 8,000 / week Any suggestions?

We've been going to Holden as 7 years and is a great moment. It's a perfect island escape that is free of trash tourist, but not too far from tourist things in case you want to go indulge in that for one day (like Myrtle Beach).

We always like to fish off the pier. The best times we were late into the night. We saw small sharks are pulled in there. There are also some good fishing charters in the region. But be picky. We went to one who crammed like 30 people on a boat and have sucked. Find the one you can get a maximum of about a dozen people. Getting out on the water for fish is so dang funny. Kids love it.

Dining options are slim. Here's what we do. We ALWAYS rent a gas grill, grill to use more coal-fired boiler house. Cooking for oneself is the best bet unless you're doing. I recommend Dee by the sea for rent. Call Alan Rental Holden for their number, or look em 'up. The lady who runs it is very nice.

For seafood, definitely go to Captain Pete's. It is located under the big bridge over the intercoastal waterway. seafood and a friendly staff. It also has an upstairs restaurant killer. And I mean killer. best seafood I had that we did not do. It is small, so go early, expect to wait a few drinks in the bar downstairs.

Betty, a short drive from the other side of the ICW is also good. Typical fried seafood, but a great bridge to sit on a beautiful night.

Now, if you are on the books at all, go back and turn left at the junction you want to go back in Shalott (I can not for the life of me remember the route numbers at the moment). Keep your eyes open for Bookworms. Back at the rear of this store is their "South" room with lots of great historical books, especially of local interest. I always get one or two good books written on the spot when I come down.

Also, if you want a good sandwich, see Archibald Deli, just Bookworms spent on the road to Shallotte. The couple who run the place are super nice.

Hope y'all have fun there. HB is an amazing place. I hope one day me and my cousins (our families meet each year) will focus on the tradition of our parents started 8 years ago and take all our children there.
