Hanmer AccommodationThe Ultimate Winter Escape in the New Zealand Hanmer Springs

Despite our best efforts to warm the natural world, it's winter and its bloody cold. It is even worse for us who live in the South Island where the desire to get out of bed in the morning, diminishing day by day. Sounds like a good excuse for a weekend and what better place to head for the winter Hanmer Springs, New Zealand. If you find it hard to justify the trip, consider it as a reward for putting up with the gloomy weather.

Hanmer Springs is only an hour and a half drive north of Christchurch and offers a wide range of fun and relaxation, including the Hanmer Springs thermal pools and spa. The pools have been around a long time and underwent a number of changes in the last 10 years, including the introduction of water slides for children, more thermal pools and a new entry. These new features are very popular with rock and sulfur pools, spas and swimming pool in general.

The hot pools range in temperature of about 33 degrees Celsius to 41. Hottest may feel a little drainage after too long, but each has its own temperature perfect and there are enough different swimming pools for you to find one that suits you best. It's a great feeling from the air temperature near zero heat of the pool and you will not regret your decision to go back and throw you enjoy the snow capped mountains beautiful you surround. With steam rising from the pool in the cold air, it makes a picturesque setting and it's even better if you're lucky enough to be there when it snows.

These days the thermal pools are a popular attraction for tourists and residents, depending on when you go swimming pools can vary from moderately busy to very busy and though some unique charm 10 years ago has increased the quality and value for money of the room has greatly improved. The adult price is only $ 12, which seems very reasonable and fair for another $ 3 you can get a reminder card that allows you to go out for a meal and come back later in the day. This is handy if you want to return during the night when, for me, hot baths are at their best. It is a great way to spend the night if you insist on dragging the hot pools and cold rooms are changing the closing time at 21:00.

If you are looking for something a little different or do not want to spend all your time relaxing in the Hanmer hot pools, then you're lucky. There are many adventure sports on offer at the nearby Thrill Seekers Canyon as bungee jumping, jet boat and 4x4 tours motorcycle. There are also some great mountain biking trails around the area. You can rent a bike for $ 25 and explore some trails and areas under the light of Hanmer. You'll save a bit by bringing your own bike, but $ 25 is not too high to pay if you do not have access to one.

Being a famous tourist place, there are many housing options and you will find everything from backpackers simple but pleasing to the other end of the market at the Heritage Hotel. The main street is also home to many bars and restaurants to satisfy your hunger and quench your thirst after a hard day's work in the hot pools.

Hanmer Springs is a very popular place in winter and it is easy to see why, the scenery is spectacular, the hot springs are a great way to divert your attention from the winter blues and there are many other things keep you busy over a fun winter weekend. Spoil yourself and get to Hanmer Springs to the next opportunity.
