Condor Airline in Alaska - it's worth paying the extra for the comfort of the classroom? We intend to travel to Fairbanks, Alaska, via Frankfurt in early June I want to pay extra money for what is called Comfort Class. That's about double the regular price. Aime said no, we will be in tourist class. But it is a very long flight and we're not as young as we were. Has anyone traveled with this company? Do you think it's worth extra?
I live in Fairbanks and fly to Germany about once a year, usually with Condor. The planes they use are the type where there is 3-4-3 seating in economy class and like most airlines you are close enough. However, the "Comfort Class" is not really worth double the price in my opinion. Yes, you get more seats and legroom, but as with most charter flights is not that fancy and as big as a first class section on other airlines and double the price is just way to much. However, if you plan to upgrade you can do to make the leg on the way from Fairbanks Fairbanks, there will be a stop in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada (you do not receive the aircraft), making the 12 hour flight time. On the way up Germany, you take a direct flight, which does is that 9 hours is a lot better.
For a long flight like that, I'd say it's worth. Comfort class on condor can be compared to business class on most airlines. The food is better, the seats are bigger and they tilt further. If you can afford and what you could travel in Comfort class, it will be much more comfortable and you'll be much more relaxed on arrival in Alaska.
Bonne route!
I have not flown with this aircraft, but I do a lot of long-haul flights for work, and I always update if I can afford it. You can book economy, at times, and upgrade at a reduced rate on the day of travel, but you run the risk of lack of seats left upfraded. Depends if it's a busy road or not. It's not just the comfort in flight, you go and get the first plane and your luggage is too unloaded first.
not the class of comfort is just another scam that airlines come with occasionally
